From Horse Float to Brand New Premises for Mercury Bay Farm Supply

Since 2020 Lisa’s customer base has increased significantly, and the new store space has allowed her to grow her product range from horse food and saddlery items to also include a wider range of products for all kinds of animals. Lisa renamed her business from Mercury Bay Saddlery to Mercury Bay Farm Supply early this year to reflect this change. 

The customer support for my business has been incredible, and we really hope our new space provides that family friendly, community focussed feel for everyone that comes through the door. The last few years have also shown me exactly what we need to have and what was lacking in product on the shop floor.  And, if someone comes in looking for a product I don’t have, I’m more than willing to order it to get it in. The business has now grown to the point that we are not just a farm supply store, but also an animal and pet store catering to the needs of animal and pet owners on farms, lifestyle blocks and more urban areas.

Mercury Bay Farm Supply product range is extensive and includes items of outdoor clothing, kids toys, and animal feed and supplies for pets including chickens, dogs, horses, cats, fish, rabbits, guinea pigs, parrots, aviary birds, goats, other farm animals and more! 

Lisa promises there is more product to come in the pipeline including fish and aquarium products, lizards and turtles. A sample of current products on offer include:

• Feed supplies - raw and dry food for dogs and cats, poultry (chicken and duck) food, bird feed, rabbit food, stock feed (cow, lama, goat, alpaca)
• Chicken coop supplies – drinkers and bedding for chickens and other birds
• Equestrian tack and saddlery supplies - saddles, bridles, covers, halters, harnesses, leads, girths and grooming products
• Equine supplements - for ponies and horses to assist with digestive health, vitamin and nutritional deficiencies
• Riding apparel and safety gear - riding boots, helmets, jackets, jodhpurs and cause wear
• General vet products - for most animals, such as wound treatments, shampoos, insect repellants and bandages
• Outdoor clothing range - for horse riders , outdoor clothing and also Swazi, Game Gear, Betacraft, Huntech and Ringers
• Western, Carhartt workwear 
• Farm supplies – including grass seeds, fertilisers, and sprays, fencing equipment and troughs
• Collars – pet collars
• Toy range  – Schleich toys.

Lisa points out that there is always something new to learn about animals and she always keeps an eye on better ways of doing things, so she can keep her knowledge up to date to be able to respond to customers' needs. Rescued wild pig ‘Willie Nelson’ has fast become a store favourite who loves attention and has become the latest new learning curve for Lisa.

Update on delivery services

Mercury Bay Farm Supply currently offers deliveries by Ferry to Ferry Landing and surrounding areas. However, due to recent road challenges, delivery services to the wider Coromandel Peninsula have been trickier to manage. In time Peninsula delivery services will be reinstated, and in the interim Lisa is happy to work with customers to book and arrange delivery services wherever she can.
