The Regional Events Fund and Coromandel Events
The Regional Events Fund (REF) is made available through the International Marketing Alliance (IMA) grouping of Regional Tourism Organisations (RTOs), including Destination Hauraki Coromandel.
The fund aims to drive visitation from outside the region. The allocation of funds is based on each region's respective share of international visitor spend prior to COVID-19. The Pacific Coast Highway IMA, which includes the Coromandel Peninsula region, received $2 million as part of this fund, and the Coromandel Peninsula is eligible for $400,000 over the next four years.
Destination Hauraki Coromandel and regional partners have identified four well-being pillars of the community as part of the fund including:
- cultural engagement
- social enhancement
- environmental responsibility
- and economic growth.
Who is the event fund for?
Destination Hauraki Coromandel note the Regional Event Fund is not just for major events; it also supports smaller or emerging events that have the potential to expand.
Through the fund, Destination Hauraki Coromandel aims to create a robust calendar of events that showcase the essence of the Coromandel Peninsula while driving economic prosperity for the region.
The purpose of The Coromandel's Regional Events Fund is to provide a seed fund for new and existing events, helping them build a sustainable platform for long-term growth.
