Things to do for the kids

The old Coroglen sale yard reserve is a great place to have a picnic and take a quick dip in the river. For some beach fun, Hot Water Beach, Hahei and Cooks Beach are not far away.

  • The old Coroglen sale yards on State Highway 25 (8.2 kms from Whenuakite) have been turned into a park with a BBQ and public toilets.

Whenuakite is often used as a meeting place for those linking up by car, bus or bike as they head to Whitianga, Hot Water Beach, Hahei, Cathedral Cove, Cooks Beach, Flaxmill Bay or Ferry Landing.

Central to this community is the Whenuakite Primary School, which was established in 1908 and has a role of over 120 for years 1-8.
