A Legacy of Hits and High-Energy Performances
With their powerful sound and heartfelt lyrics, Everclear has made a lasting impact on the music scene for over three decades, and they show no signs of slowing down.
Formed in 1992 by vocalist and guitarist Art Alexakis, Everclear quickly rose to fame with their distinct blend of alternative rock, producing hit after hit. The band has released 11 studio albums, with four achieving Gold or Platinum status. Fans worldwide have rocked out to their 12 Top 40 singles, including timeless tracks like “Santa Monica,” “Father of Mine,” “I Will Buy You A New Life,” “Wonderful,” and “Everything To Everyone.” With millions of records sold, Grammy nominations, and countless shows under their belt, Everclear’s legacy is undeniable.
A Journey of Resilience and Musical Evolution
Art Alexakis’ journey to success wasn’t easy. After the dissolution of his previous band, Colorfinger, in 1992, Alexakis found himself struggling in Portland. Out of these challenging times, Everclear was born, with their early releases on Portland’s Tim/Kerr Records catching the attention of major labels. Their breakthrough came with the 1995 platinum-selling album Sparkle and Fade, featuring the smash hit “Santa Monica,” which solidified Everclear’s place in the hearts of fans everywhere.
Overcoming Adversity and Giving Back
In 2019, Alexakis was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS), a revelation that only strengthened his resolve. He has since dedicated a portion of ticket sales to charities like Sweet Relief Musicians Fund and the MS Society. Despite the diagnosis, Everclear continued to thrive, releasing a remastered 30th-anniversary edition of their debut album World of Noise in 2022 and embarking on an extensive tour that showcased their enduring appeal.

Everclear’s performance at the Whitianga Summer Concert is set to be a highlight of the event’s 15th-anniversary celebrations. With Art Alexakis leading the charge, joined by Davey French on guitar, Freddy Herrera on bass, and Brian Nolan on drums, fans can expect a high-energy show filled with hits and deep cuts from their expansive catalog.
We’re stoked to be joining a lineup of such legendary acts. It’s been seven years since we’ve been to New Zealand, and we couldn’t be more excited to get back and connect with our Kiwi fans at this awesome festival.
