The Mercury Bay Railway Club is a group of locals keen on modelling who will be exhibiting a showcase of their works at the show. The members have plenty of enthusiasm and skills they are happy to share with other modellers or those new to the hobby.

The show is an opportunity to bring together like minded model enthusiasts and families that enjoy viewing models. While our local club members are mainly focused on railway modelling, some also have interests in military, planes or other similar types of modelling and always happy to chat and compare notes.

Exhibits at the show will include:

The Railway Club is still confirming models that will be on display but previous years have included, model railway trains, planes, cars, trucks, boats, dolls, miniature houses, lego displays and matchbox toys.

More about the Mercury Bay Model Railway Club

The Mercury Bay Model Railway Club was established by Whitianga local, Damon Christensen, who is passionate about his hobby and wanted to spread the craft in the Whitianga community.

The club welcomes new membership and are happy to have ‘part-time’ members in the form of non-residents in the club. The club is about connecting and having company while model building, or just to see what it’s all about. Visitors are welcome to contact the club and come and join the modelling table for an hour or two, or just pop in for a chat.

Meetings are ad hoc, but most often occur on a Sunday afternoon. The members also have a collection of New Zealand and American magazines and books on modelling available to borrow.

How to contact the club
