All you need to know for attending the Whitianga Summer Concert

Where is the Whitianga Summer Concert?
The Whitianga Summer Concert will run as usual at the same venue at Whitianga Waterways Area. You can download a venue map below.
Can I take food and drink into the summer concert?
Alcohol is not permitted to be taken into the Whitianga Summer Concert venue and no alcohol is to be taken out of the venue to comply with the NZ Liquor Licensing laws.
You’ll be able to enjoy a great selection of Gibbston Valley Wines including Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Rosé and their award-winning Pinot Noir. Along with beer and non-alcoholic beverages. FREE refill water will be available.
Feel free to bring your own picnic and sealed non-alcoholic drinks. A variety of local food vendors will be on site. Bags and coolers may be searched on entry and prohibited items will be confiscated.
How do I get to the concert?
Driving
There will be concert parking available on the day. Parking will be signposted from Joan Gaskell Drive. There is a slight change to carparking, with more usable area available and improved pedestrian walking access from the carparks to the concert entrance. A gold coin donation is appreciated and this will go to charity. Please follow directions of the traffic management staff on the day.
Buses to the concert
Those that have purchased bus tickets can catch their buses from these locations:
- Coromandel - Information Centre: 9.30am
- Matarangi - Matarangi Fire Station: 9.45am
- Kuaotunu - Kuaotunu Reserve: 10.00am
- Whangamata - Whangamata Rugby Club: 9.00am
- Pauanui - Community Hub carpark: 9.15am
- Tairua - Tairua Information Centre: 9.45am
Buses will leave the concert at 6.30pm from the same drop off point returning to the start destination.
Do I need a ticket for my children?
Children 14 years (inclusive) and under (as at Concert Date) are able to attend the concert free of charge. Those over 14 years of age (as at Concert Date) are required to hold a concert ticket.
Children will require bus tickets to board Whitianga and out of town buses.
You will be required to present proof of age for all children aged 14 years and under (As at Concert Date). Children MUST be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. All Children Under 18 Years of Age (Minors) must be accompanied at all times in the Concert Site by a responsible adult, parent or guardian.
Where do I sit at the concert?
Grab a spot in front of the stage. Please note that bean bags and tarpaulins are not permitted. Chairs are allowed to be used, but please be considerate to the people around you.
Umbrellas, gazebos and shade tents are permitted and should not be larger than 3m. You’ll need to sit in the designated ‘umbrella’ area.
Will the concert go ahead in the rain?
Yes, the concert will go ahead rain, hail or shine. Unless the organisers (Greenstone Entertainment) deem it dangerous for it to go ahead. So it’s a good idea to come prepared, bring your sunblock and your raincoat!
Other helpful concert information
- The event is wheelchair accessible, and there is a dedicated accessibility entry gate at each venue. Along with disability parking and toilets available.
- No professional video or audio recording equipment is to be brought into the venue e.g. long lens cameras. Any equipment discovered will be confiscated.
- Medical, Police and the Fire Service will be on site.
- No animals except guide dogs.
- No cookers or fires permitted on site.
- NO Pass Outs
- Smoking and Vaping only in designated areas.
- Management reserves the right to remove or refuse entry to ticket holders considered dangerous or a nuisance or failing to comply with reasonable requests.
I’m a VIP ticket holder what do I need to know?
You can enter the concert via the VIP lane and head to the VIP area to the side of the stage. You have a dedicated bar and bathrooms. Enjoy the shaded area, but feel free to come and go from the area if you wish. Please remember the VIP area is strictly R18.
I can’t attend the concert, can I resell my ticket?
If you need to change the name of your ticket, you may do so by logging into your account and clicking on the “Reissue” button under your ticket. There is no cost associated here but this can only be done once before being locked in completely.
If you can no longer attend the event, you can put your ticket up for resale where it will go back up for sale and another customer can purchase it. Putting your ticket up for resale does not guarantee that it will be resold and you will receive a confirmation once/if your ticket has sold. There is a fee for reselling your ticket which is $20
