Their style spans from top Kiwi song icons to timeless classics and today’s Top 20 hits. Whether it’s Rock, Pop, Dance, Reggae, Dub, Funk, or countless classic bangers to wash it all down, Black and Goldkeeps the good vibes flowing.

Grant Haua

Grant Haua

Grant Haua is a talented singer, songwriter, and guitarist whose passion for music ignited at the age of 13 when he first picked up the guitar. He released his debut solo album in 2010, showcasing his distinctive blend of soulful melodies and raw, heartfelt storytelling.

Grant's journey includes forming the band Swamp Thing, with which he wrote, toured, and performed for eight years, captivating audiences at festivals across New Zealand and Australia. Since 2018, he has returned to focusing on his solo career, embracing the deep grooves of soul and blues. Grant’s music has taken him far and wide, with tours across Europe and Australia and the release of four albums that highlight his expressive voice and masterful guitar work.

This year Grant Haua will bring his unique sound to the A Taste of Matarangi festival, joined by his band for a performance that promises to be a powerful celebration of music and soul.

Hazy and the Jays

Coming together at the beginning of 2024, Hazy and the Jays is a Thames based four-piece rock band. Originally forming in high school with the intention to compete in the national Smokefree Rockquest competition, after they made their way to the Waikato regional finals the band made the decision to stick together. For that point onwards, Hazy and the Jays has played a number of shows such as the Paeroa Fireworks and Thames Foodbank Fundraiser.

They take inspiration from a wide array of artists with examples including Måneskin, Radiohead, Alice in Chains and Vulfpeck.

At this year’s festival, Hazy and the Jays will deliver a captivating mix of classic rock hits and their own original compositions. As an emerging force on the local music scene, they are truly a band to watch. Don’t miss the chance to see this talented group light up the stage.
