The Mercury Bay Community Radiology Trust, situated at 18 Coghill Street, Whitianga, have announced a temporary closure as at 25th March 2020. The closure is due to the COVID-19 pandemic and will mean there will be no 'walk in' access to their rooms.

Patients with confirmed Covid 19 and those in self isolation will not be xrayed in Whitianga and will be required to travel to Thames Hospital.

Patients requiring routine non-urgent xrays or ultrasound scans are asked to leave their request forms in the Xray mailbox at the front door, preferably in an envelope, and to leave a phone message on (07) 866-5973Alternatively, patients can email Xray referral forms to the Radiology Trust at mbayradiology@gmail.com

Telephone, mail and email messages will be checked daily and actioned as necessary.

Patients requiring urgent xrays will in most cases still be x-rayed, however access to the service is only by referral from your doctor or the after hours emergency doctor.

Medical staff are aware of these new arrangements and we wish to reassure the community that we will continue to provide the best service possible under the current circumstances. The management of the COVID-19 pandemic is coordinated nationally and the Trust will notify the community as soon as the Whitianga site is able to reopen.

Edwin Linehan, Chairman of the Mercury Bay Radiology Trust.
