This professional event regularly attracts competitors from throughout New Zealand, and international golfing talent is also expected with initial interest coming from Australia and Europe.
The NZ Mini Golf Open is a competitive international event where golfers will get points, and be ranked on the New Zealand and world leader board in mini golf.

How to enter
Entries are open for golfers in the following categories:
- NZ Open Womens
- NZ Open Mens
- NZ Open Youth
- NZ Open Pro
- NZ Open Adult and Youth
- NZ Open Seniors.
Over the last five years Darren Prole and Krissy Robinson, owners of Wild Wood Mini Golf have been personally involved in mini golf and are the driving force in bringing this event to Whitianga.
Both Darren and Krissy are Co-Presidents of the New Zealand Mini Golf Federation and were instrumental in securing this professional event into Whitianga.
It's extremely exciting to be able to bring this sporting tournament to Whitianga. Our team at Wild Wood are passionate about mini golf and will be working hard to make this an excellent event. Mini golf is an excellent fun sport that everyone can get involved in, no matter what age you are. We are really encouraging anyone interested to enter the tournament's open categories. And of course, I’ll be practising hard for the competition as I’m personally keen to claim the title of New Zealand Mini Golf 2022 champion!

We’re expecting to have anything between 50-80 competitors and their supporting crews to come into Whitianga for this event. If anyone is interested in entering in this event, or would like to get involved as a spectator, a corporate sponsor or as a volunteer or to assist during the event our team would love to hear from you.

More about the New Zealand Mini Golf Federation
The New Zealand Mini Golf Federation (NZMGF) was established in 2015 by a group of keen golfers who represented New Zealand at the World Mini Golf Championships in Finland.
Since then NZMGF members have continued to facilitate and promote amateur competition and professional events within New Zealand and explore opportunities for international connections.
NZMGF holds annual New Zealand Mini Golf Opens, events and encourage and supports clubs throughout New Zealand that have been formed to bring mini golf enthusiasts together.
NZMGF is associated with the:
- World Minigolf Federation - the international governing body for mini golf
- Oceania Mini Golf Federation.
