Four popular acts in line up for A Taste of Matarangi Festival 2023
Foodies and music lovers the countdown is on to A Taste of Matarangi festival on the 1st April! This year tickets can be purchased online and the music programme offers a fantastic line up of four popular New Zealand music acts including Sound Republic, Pow Wow, Mandy Meadows Duo and the Whitianga Dixieland Band.

Festival organisers recommend that you come to the festival ready to groove to the great local music – and bring an empty stomach so you can sample everything from the fabulous food stalls! The festival programme runs from 10am until late afternoon and includes live performances from the talented bands who will get you up and dancing on the Village Green.

Sound Republic

As the new headlining act for A Taste of Matarangi Sound Republic will bring their experience and awesome band chemistry to the stage with passion. This band promise to knock out some intense energy that will wow the audience and have the crowd pumping.
Made up of New Zealand's finest young musicians with a highly impressive collective resume, Sound Republic brings an intense energy to the stage backed up with a wealth of experience! A cover band that not only focuses on classic hits of the 70’s and 80’s, these guys rock out with chart toppers from the 90’s, 00’s and 10’s. With guitar, bass, drums, keys, electric violin and two lead vocalists, sound republic turn it on and WOW audiences of all ages!
Pow Wow

Pow Wow are a charismatic trio of musicians from the Bay of Plenty. Their relentless fun vibe and mix of reimagined tunes will bring people onto their feet.
Pow Wow is made up of experienced musicians Josh Pow – singer/guitarist, Nick Ririnui – Drums and Marc Raymond Joseph - Bass. This Mt Maunganui treasured trio, mix and reimagine all your favourite hits from the 70’s/80’s/90’s to modern day sounds. The boys have a relentless fun vibe that keeps the dance floor pumping. You will enjoy a unique set filled with twists and turns that you most likely have never heard before!
Mandy Meadows Duo

Mandy Meadows Duo of are new to the A Taste of Matarangi stage and this year will perform a set of classic cruisy tunes to set the lunch time scene.
This is not your average professional high-energy modern party duo. Offering great low key acoustic sets, this male and female duo LOVE to play music!
The Whitianga Dixieland Band

Returning to Matarangi are local musicians The Whitianga Dixieland Band – and we hear our local Mayor is part of this band too. They perform a list of classic jazz tunes and will set the groove for the day.
New Orleans jazz tunes from cruisey blues to foot stomping swing music, Dixieland music is the original unplugged, good times groove. Paul Lee on clarinet, Kevin Robinson on trumpet, Trevor Hildreth on flugel-trombone, Paul Bradley on acoustic bass, Jani Dennis on piano, Rob Perks on drums and Len Salt on banjo.

We are really excited to be able to bring A Taste of Matarangi Festival back to Matarangi this year. The festival has been a favourite event for friends and family, young and old to attend and each year it just gets better and better. Te Rerenga School and Kuaotunu Land Search and Rescue (KSAR) will be the major charities to benefit from the festival.
