Winter pyjama drive to help Whitianga families keep their kids cosy
Whitianga resident Alana Baker has partnered with Whitianga Social Services and created a pyjama drive to help create a cosier bedtime for local families and their children this winter. Members of the public can donate new sets of pyjamas which will be gifted to families in need.

Inspired by other ‘PJ Drives’ around New Zealand local Bayley’s real estate agent Alana always wanted to ‘give it a go’ here in Whitianga. Alana is no stranger to fundraising for great causes. Days after holding a successful Pink Ribbon event which raised $6,412 for breast Cancer Foundation NZ , she had this new fundraiser on her radar.
There’s nothing nicer than curling up on a winters night in a cosy set of PJ’s. We don’t have a particular goal of how many pyjamas we’d like donated, but any donations will be gratefully received and matched to those families most in need with the assistance of the team at Whitianga Social Services.

How to donate new Pyjamas
Donations of pyjamas in all sizes, from toddler to pre-teen in both girls and boys styles are being called for.
Donations will be collected at Bayleys Whitianga and can be dropped off in person, or alternatively online orders sent to the same address to Alana at Bayleys Whitianga, 7 The Esplanade, Whitianga by 31st August 2021.
Other items for families in need
This year Alana is only focussing on new pyjamas rather than other items such as dressing gowns, slippers, blankets or second had items. These other items are gratefully accepted at the Whitianga Community Services Trust shop in Cook Drive.
