The Esplanade Apartment Managers, Deborah and Terry Bibby have been working with 16 local restaurants, cafes and takeaways to celebrate Whitianga as the ’Scallop Capital’ of New Zealand. The nine days are packed full of dining experiences including a diverse range of seafood dishes and entertainment options.

When several loyal guests from last year’s Scallop Festival retained their accommodation bookings despite the cancellation of the 2020 Scallop Festival we decided we should collaborate with other local businesses and provide a similar theme on a smaller scale. We talked to local restaurants who were immediately keen to get on board, and the Whitianga Scallop and Seafood Celebration was born!
