The organisers of the Whitianga RunFest have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s event.

RunFest Cancellation
The Whitianga RunFest was due to take place Saturday 27 May 2023. Organisers advise that given the ongoing effects of Cyclone Gabrielle within the Coromandel Region, it was decided the event would be cancelled.
The Mercury Bay continues to be faced with the uncertainty of the road access to the region and the willingness of people to travel to the Coromandel given the road status.
All registered athletes will receive further details from event organisers and all entries will be fully refunded over the next fortnight.
This is a really tough decision as we did not want to have to cancel this year’s event. We know it is great for the town as it brings in thousands of visitors. We apologise to anyone disappointed with our decision, but hope there is some understanding of why we have had to cancel. We look forward to hosting everyone in 2024.
