The impact of Covid-19 and the unknown period in which the nation (or parts of the nation) need to remain locked down means the Whitianga Oceans Festival Committee cannot plan ahead with any certainty and are unlikely to be at an alert level that enables them to hold an event of this size.
This event has such a positive impact on the local Whitianga community so this decision has not been made lightly. A huge amount of effort has gone into the revamped festival that has evolved from the Whitianga Scallop Festival and we thank all of those individuals and groups who have worked towards and were to be part of this day. We were very excited to be bringing you all another great event and enjoy as much sustainably caught seafood as we could work in. We remain keen to use this work to bring you a festival in the future instead.
