Updates to Whitianga Marathon Schedule

The Whitianga Marathon organising team have made some minor adjustments to the race schedule to ensure this popular event flows smoothly across its courses and distances on Saturday 22nd May. Competitors and spectators are advised to check the new start times.

Over 1,000 runners and walkers will hit the scenic streets and tracks around Whitianga and Cooks Beach for this popular event.

Whitianga Marathon updated schedule of events

The updated schedule has been advised as follows:  

Friday 21 May – Registration  

3:00pm – 9:30pm – Registration at the Coro Club Café (located at 7 Dakota Drive, Whitianga). Late entries will be taken if capacity has not been reached. 

Saturday 22 May – Race Day 

6:00am -6:30am – Final chance to register and pick up race numbers for the Marathon at Race HQ – Buffalo Beach, Whitianga.

6:30am – Ferries will transport athletes across the river from Whitianga to the Marathon start line.

6:55am – Marathon Briefing at Ferry Landing

7:00am – Marathon Start – Runners and Walkers

8:30am – Final chance to register and pick up race numbers for the Half Marathon, 21km, 10km and 5km races at Race HQ – Buffalo Beach

8.35am – 21km Race Briefing

8.40am – 21km Start – Runners and Walkers – Buffalo Beach Reserve

9.25am – 10km Race Briefing

9.30am – 10km Start – Runners and Walkers – Buffalo Beach Reserve

10:10am – 5km Race Briefing

10:15am – 5km Run/Walk Start – Buffalo Beach Reserve

3:00pm – Prize giving at Buffalo Beach reserve

What’s happening at Race HQ on Buffalo Reserve?

Whether you are competing or supporting there will be lots on at Race HQ (Buffalo Beach Reserve) including food trucks, merchandise, spot prizes, prizegiving and sports massage.
 
Please note, if you are bringing your pet to Race HQ, they must be kept on a lead at all times.
 
Parking will be available at Buffalo beach reserve, along with a place for competitors to leave bags.
