20th December: Santa Parade

The summer celebrations kick off with Santa arriving in style. Dress up in your brightest Christmas outfits or decorate your favourite set of wheels and join the beachside fun. Fantastic for the kids and yes, Santa is coming.

27th December: Fire Station Open Day

Get up close with the engines and equipment at the Matarangi Fire Station. Kids can even try the fire hose. A great chance to meet our local MVRFF heroes.

28th December: Bar Crossing Advisory Seminar

Learn essential tips to cross the bar safely this summer. Hosted by the Matarangi Boat & Fishing Club at the Fire Station. Everyone welcome.

29th December: CFM & Promo Crew Giveaways

Lots of prizes and fun with the Coromandel CFM team at the Village Green.

29th December: The Big Dig

A beach favourite. Dig for hidden ice block sticks (hands only) and claim a prize. Age groups: up to 5 years, 6–10 years and 11–15 years.

29th December: Bike & Helmet Decorating

Kids aged 12 and under — get creative and bling your bike and helmet for a chance to win one of two brand new bikes. Safety first: no helmet = no entry.

30th December: Show & Shine

Calling all car enthusiasts. Bring down your pride and joy of any year, make or model to the Matarangi Fire Station. Admire classics, customs and local gems.

31st December: MVFB Collection

The Matarangi Volunteer Fire Brigade crew will be out and about. Show your support with a gold coin donation.

2nd January: Matarangi Tennis Tournament

A great annual event for players and spectators alike with a full day of matches, fun and friendly rivalry.

3rd January: Blue Lewis Tournament – Adult Fishing Competition

Adults — it is your turn to show who the reel fisherman is. Entries available online at www.mbfc.co.nz

3rd January: Cardboard Cup

A spectator favourite. Ages 8–18 build their own cardboard vessel and race around a 50 metre wharf course. Entry forms from Richardsons Real Estate.

4th January: Sandcastle Competition

Bring your imagination to the beach off the Village Green. Build big or small, quirky or classic. Fun for individuals, families and all ages.

5th January: Small Fry Fishing Competition
