Creative Mercury Bay have established a YouTube Channel where you can enjoy the latest weekly episode of 'Bubble Bites". This weeks session starts at 5.30pm and includes a great local line up of stage artists, singers and songwriters.

Sharyn Morcom – Thespian/Theatre Director – Cooks Beach

Sharyn has over 30 years of involvement with theatre, performing with theatre companies both in Gisborne and Auckland before moving to Mercury Bay in 1996. Not long after moving to the area she performed with what was then called The Tuesday Club and is now the Offbeat Theatre Company. In recent years Sharyn has taken to directing and had hoped to stage a production of Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest this year, but plans have been curtailed due to lockdown.

Sharon will be doing an excerpt from Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night". Follow Offbeat Theatre Company on Facebook for details of upcoming performances.

Sarah Morcom – Indie Pop Singer/Songwriter – Cooks Beach

Sarah was classically trained in piano by her grandmother from age 5-18 and has been singing most of her life. A few years ago, she decided to collaborate singing and playing piano, beginning to write her own contemporary content.

Sarah has also picked up a bit of ukelele along the way and is very passionate about making and playing music. Sarah will be performing original songs titled Maybe, Noizy Boy and You'll Know It's Time.

Soul Sax Plus – Jazz/Blues/Soul Musicians – Coroglen

Jani Dennis and Paul Lee live on a piece of regenerating bush at the head of the Whitianga Harbour (near Coroglen). They have performed together as Soul Sax Plus since 1992 and maintain a large repertoire ready for any occasion. They have always mixed originals with appropriate covers with Popular Jazz, Blues, Latin, Soul, Reggae being their strengths. Soul Sax Plus originals feature conscious lyrics, social issues and conservationist themes. Jani plays alto and tenor recorder, plus the keyboard. Paul plays tenor and soprano sax, clarinet and alto flute. They share lead and backing vocals and Paul creates their original backing tracks.

Their most recent online release was a five song EP "25 Years" recorded with Coromandel engineer Matt Sephton. Their four previous original albums and one covers album are available on Spotify. Soul Sax Plus's most recent performances include Tuia 250 Festival Whitianga in 2019 and a summer series for North Shore Auckland Families in Parks. A favourite performance has been at the Barry Brickell memorial Clay Day in Coromandel Town, in January 2019 and January 2020. Soul Sax Plus will be performing their songs Give Me Water, Kereru and Pohutukawa.

Gerald (Jerry) Thoma - Rock/Folk/Country Musician

Gerald (Jerry) Thoma is a retired laboratory scientist/business owner from South Bend, Indiana, USA. For 17 years he has been a half-time Hahei resident with wife Margaret (Meg), an artist specialising as a metalsmith/art jeweller both in Hahei and South Bend. A casual singer and guitar player, Jerry is also a facilitator & philanthropist of The Music Village(TMV), a not-for-profit musical arts centre in South Bend.

Jerry is an active participant and advisor in The Music Village Jammers, a multifaceted menagerie of instrumentalist and/or singers. This group has become quite popular in the area, playing at over 60 events in 2019 in widely different locations/venues. The Music Village Jammers play as volunteers and by invitation at paid events, farmers markets, aged care homes and a variety of special dedications. All proceeds go towards The Music Village education programme. Jerry will be performing Life on the A20 and German Shepherd.
