Whitianga New build - reputable and competent builder
Happy New Year Nick & Hollie. This has been a while in coming but we wanted to share our thoughts about our experience working with Cove Construction to build our new holiday home in Whitianga, which was completed last year (2022).
What great advice we got when we first met Nick on site - one of our options was to renovate the existing house. “Knock it down & start again” he said, proving to be the first key decision we got right!
The second was, on his recommendation, meeting John Ottaway from DataPlan Waikato. From the outset we had confidence that John understood our own ideas and requirements, especially regarding the general look we were wanting to achieve, the flow throughout the house and its functionality.
He very quickly took our own sketch plans and turned them into concept drawings which we were instantly enthusiastic about. Attaining the initial building consent, subsequent compliance at all stages and the final Code of Compliance went very smoothly, which we put down to John’s excellent preparations and Nick’s project management skills.
The building consent was issued on 1st July 2021 and despite the challenges and disruptions caused by Covid, we found ourselves moving in less than 10 months later before Easter 2022. We believe this was a fantastic effort. Again, this is testament to Nick’s ability to accurately co-ordinate services, materials, sub-contractors and all aspects of the project.
Jay & his team did a fantastic job - their workmanship and professional approach, along with that of all sub-contractors, ensured that the completed project has met, if not exceeded, our expectations in every way.
Two aspects that are very important to us are communication and transparency, and in this regard Nick and everyone involved were impeccable. We always knew what were getting and what we were paying for. Along with Nick’s timely responses to phone calls and emails, where appropriate our access to sub-contractors & suppliers to discuss our needs directly was appreciated by us, and seemingly well received by them.
Teaming up with Nick we also used Hollie from STyla.design. This proved to be valuable in helping us with selection of colours, textures, floor coverings and other materials used throughout. Hollie was great at listening to our ideas and guiding us with suggestions to achieve the overall effect that we were looking for.
We are thrilled with the outcome and the entire process of getting there - if you are looking for a reputable and competent builder, we fully recommend Cove Construction and STyla.design.
