Kerbside rubbish and recycling collections for Summer 2021/22

Most areas of the Coromandel, including Mercury Bay, will have additional Kerbside rubbish and recycling collections between Monday 27 December and Saturday 12 February 2022.

Rubbish collections – COVID Protection Framework ORANGE

Kerbside rubbish and recycling collections will continue as normal under COVID protection framework Orange. Collection crews will wear PPE.

The council ask that to help, please don't put PPE, face masks or sanitary products in your wheelie bin for recycling - they can't be recycled. Instead put them in your rubbish bin.

Present your Kerbside material for collection as usual with rubbish in blue Council bags, glass in Council crates, and paper, cardboard, tins and cans, and plastic types 1 & 2 in your wheele bin.

Extra rubbish collections in Whitianga over the holidays

From the week of the 27th December through until the 12th February there will be extra rubbish collections through out the Mercury Bay. Download a copy for the home or bach below. Please ensure that your rubbish is placed kerbside by 9am on the collection day.

What can be recycled?

Wheelie bins - please place Paper, Cardboard, aluminium and tins and plastic with recycle label 1 or 2 only. Reminder to discard lids and rinse plastic items clean.

Green Bins - please place rinsed and clean class bottles and jars only.

Whitianga Refuse Transfer Station hours

Over the summer period the Whitianga dump will be open daily. 

Monday - Friday – 8.30am - 5.30pm

Saturday, Sunday and public holidays – 10.30am - 5.30pm

Matarangi Refuse Transfer Station

Summer hours until 20th February.

Monday - Friday – 12.30pm - 5.30pm

Saturday, Sunday and public holidays – 10.30am - 5.30pm

Please note the refuse stations will not be open on Christmas Day or New Years Day.
