Calling all artists and artist in the making! The Project Mammogram fundraising team are running a design competition calling for entries for a mammogram machine caricature. Prizes will be awarded to the total value of $850, and the winning entry will be used across promotional material used by Project Mammogram. Entries are due by 5pm on 13th July – read on for more details.

The competition is being run in addition to the Whitianga Lions Art expo being run over the Matariki Long weekend at the town hall. The competition was the brain child of the Project Mammogram committee and is for existing or aspiring artists who wish to participate to create and name a caricature of a 3D mammogram machine.

Competition Concept and marketing uses 

To bring an identity to the new mammogram machine that can be enduring. This is a competition for local artists to bring our mammogram machine to life through the creation of a caricature representing it for use with the media in terms of total fund raising.

Competition criteria:

  • Artists must live on the Coromandel Peninsula.
  • There will be prizes for 1st 2nd and 3rd.First prize $500.00 grocery gift card, 2nd prize $250 .00 fuel voucher and 3rd prize  $100 fuel voucher
  • The terms of the competition would be that we can use the winners creation on merchandise ie T shirts and in our marketing.
  • Size : no larger than A4 .
  • These artworks would be displayed at the Art expo and the public would be allowed to vote for the ones they liked the best. The winners will be the ones with the most votes.
  • The next page shows a photo shows a picture of 3Dmammogram machine.  We encourage you to take some artistic license with the caricature.
  • Entries are free but need to be delivered to the town hall between midday and 5pm on the 13 th of July 2023 to be considered.
