Coffee Catch-up in Whitianga
The Historical Society are excited to host regular coffee catchups, details of May catchup:
On Thursday, May 29 at 10:30am at the Lost Spring
Jonathan Peet, a former Whitianga resident now running a B&B in Hikuai, is a keen bushman and lover of history.
Inspired by discovering old campsites and mineshafts in the bush he will talk to us about his first book ‘Wairata’, an historical novel based in the Northern Taranaki and South Africa. This revolves around an 1890 shipwreck on NZ’s wild and wet west coast with an orphaned 11 year old boy being dragged unwillingly into the Boer War.
Work on his sequel to this dramatic tale is already well underway and Johnathan will have copies of his first book for sale at our illustrated talk.
No RSVP required
