This iconic Mercury Bay event is held each year in early March. This Art Escape 2026 weekends are scheduled for the 7th, 8th & 9th of March and the 14th,15th & 16th March. A FREE event and opportunity to explore the Coromandel's artists studios, see their work, talk and even purchase their work.

This is a self-guided art tour offering a fantastic opportunity for you to create your own art trail, meet artists in their studios, and enjoy the chance to buy original artworks directly from the creators. 🎨

Artists Open Studios

Local artists are opening their studios again to the public in the first full weekends in March as part of the Mercury Bay Art Escape. All are welcome to visit over the two weekends in March to enjoy meeting, see work in progress and even purchase pieces of artwork.

Final artists to be confirmed but there is usually brilliant mix of artists including:

  • potters
  • sculptors
  • painters
  • photographers
  • silk painters
  • weavers
  • mosaic artists
  • jewellers
  • glass artists
  • and an Artisan Blacksmith.

From Pauanui to Whangapoua, pick up a guide book and enjoy FREE entry to studios over the open days. Look out for the official blue and orange  Art Escape flags outside participating studios along the way.
