Americana vibe at Fourth July celebrations with American Muscle, Street and Custom Car Club

Club members met at Buffalo Beach reserve on Saturday 2nd July at 2pm, then cruised Whitianga main street, ending up parked outside Grace O’Malley’s Bar and Restaurant.
 
Over 30 cars took part in the parade and car show outside Grace O’Malley’s. Cars included American and Australian Muscle, late and old model Mustangs, Camaro, Holdens (including Club Sport, GTS, and Monaro) with the oldest being a 1928 Model T Ford. Many club members had dressed up in the American theme for the afternoon and decorated cars with flags, or themed in red, white, and blue.

This was another fantastic turn out of members from the car club. We’ve been involved in fourth of July celebrations for three years and it’s great to see the pleasure the event brings to our members and to the spectators who came down to see the cars. It’s great to see people dressing up and the American flags flying off the vehicles which looked spectacular. A big thanks to the members that got together to participate, and we hope to see more again next year!

Grace O’Malley’s Bar and Restaurant owner Peter Jones wanted to provide some real American fun when he was planning these early July 4 celebrations. He worked with the car club to encourage club members to participate, and council staff to secure car parking spots outside the Bar and Restaurant for the afternoon car show. During the afternoon Grace O'Malleys was decorated in an American theme, provided music, and the car show provided a bonus as it proved to be extremely popular with the pub patrons and the many passers-by who were taking photos.
 
The American Car Club are looking forward to holding the annual Whit Beach meet 8 January 2023. They invite contact from car enthusiasts who would like to get involved.
