From 6-14 March Seaweek 2027 activities are coordinated as part of Seaweek across New Zealand. Events to celebrate the moana-sea along with agencies, businesses, and community groups.

The 2027 Seaweek theme is Uniquely New Zealand!
Did you know Aotearoa New Zealand may have the world's the highest proportion of endemic marine species (species that are found nowhere else on Earth)?
To celebrate, Seaweek will focus on showcasing native and endemic species and local marine ecosystems to appreciate the magic of our unique part of the world and its interconnections with the entire global ocean. Local communities and organisations will be organising a variety of events around the country that will celebrate New Zealand's incredible and unique sea creatures!

Seaweek Activities History in the Mercury Bay
Examples of past events held in the Mercury Bay included- a Community Day Buffalo Beach, Hahei, Cathedral Cove & Coast beach clean, Seaweek at the Cinema, Thirsty Thursday coffees, design a seaweed poster competition and school visits: marine education sessions throughout the week.
