Mercury Bay Day Camp

A fantastic outdoor experience for children aged 6-13 in the April school holidays. A huge range of activities from crafts, flying fox, climbing walls, trailer rides and much more!

Volunteers and teen leaders needed

Helpers are drawn from the local Mercury Bay churches and the community. If you are able to help, please contact the team - everything you need to know can be found on their website (click on the link to the organiser website on this page). 

Mercury Bay Day Camp - Registrations 

Registrations are open from Monday 3rd March 7am for the Mercury Bay Day Camp. This popular day camp will run again in the April School Holidays. Numbers are limited and entries must be made online via their website (see organiser website link). 

What to expect at Day Camp

There is a huge list of activities for children to choose from. Some activities are limited by age for health and safety reasons. 

View organiser website for all confirmed  electives - past electives have included:

  • Confidence course - muddy fun (plan for a change of clothes after this one!)
  • Mystery trailer ride and tour - get a tour of the farm, but be ready for some mud!
  • Water / mud slide - slip-sliding fun down the hill. Be ready to make a splash!
  • Kayak - time for a paddle?
  • Raft building (8+) - can your boat float?
  • Storm the heights! - teams prepare to capture each other’s flag using cunning strategic teamwork!
  • Archery - classic target shooting with bow and arrow
  • Hut building - use the bush and prove your skills
  • Rock wall climb - prove you can make the heights and then see if you can beat your time!
  • Extreme air jumper (7+) - harnessed trampoline bungee
  • Chicken coop maze - challenge yourself in the dark
  • Creative carpentry - build to a pattern or choose for yourself
  • Campfire cooking - damper, sausages and marshmallow, yum!
  • Clay - get creative with clay
  • Craft corner - choose from a range of materials and use your imagination
  • Clay bird shooting (10+) - back after a long gap, aim for a moving target
  • Rifle shooting (10+) - target shooting, check your aim

New electives for 2025:

  • Fun with Flax - awesome creations with flax
  • DOC Kaitiaki Kids - wildlife, predators and environment protection
