From the 12-15 March the Kubota Billfish Classic held in Whitianga on the Coromandel Peninsula New Zealand is officially the Largest Billfish Tournament ever to be held in the World.

Kubota Billfish Classic Whitianga Tournament Information

Officially the Largest Billfish Tournament ever to be held in the World (surpassing the previous world record of the 2005 White Marlin Open held in Ocean City, Maryland, USA with 449 boats).

  • $1.7 million dollars worth of prizes.
  • 470 boats Entered.
  • Sold out 9 months ago.
  • Tournament Director Tom Maxwell is expecting a $9-10 million cash injection into the Mercury Bay economy over a 1-2 week period.
