You are invited to join the Coastcare team to take part as a volunteer to restore the coastal area in Opito Bay.

Opito Bay Coastcare

Join the team with your spade and gardening gloves and help restore and protect the coastal area at Opito Bay. The working bee and planting will be followed a sausage sizzle.

Calling ALL VOLUNTEERS!!!!!

This summer has been a reminder that the coastal area is very dynamic. The dunes did their job, acting as a sacrificial barrier between the ocean and the land. The dune restoration work at Stewart Stream is looking fantastic and we are set to complete the restoration work in this area.

With the help of all the Opito residents and bach owners, we have created a wonderful space by removing exotic weeds and replacing them with native dune grasses. 

We have scheduled our fifth planting session and would love to see you there to give a hand.

We are calling out for volunteers again this year again, we are putting on a barbecue for those present. (Weather permitting!)

Meet at Stewart Stream Toilets at 9:00am.

Everyone welcome! Bring the whanau.

Bring your spades - bring your gloves, sun/rain protection and drinking water.

Join us afterwards for a sausage sizzle to celebrate this wonderful community event!
