Caring for the Coast of Mercury Bay
Working in partnership with the local community, iwi, Department of Conservation and Councils, Coastcare Waikato are working together to protect our precious coastline in the Mercury Bay.
Keen to help?
If you'd like to join in and help maintain our dune areas and don't mind a bit of gardening, some great company and the outside. Then bring along your favourite little spade or gardening tools and gloves, water bottle and hat and sunscreen.
July Planting Bee at Hahei
Volunteers needed for Hahei!
Help is need to restore 600m2 of coastal dunes at one of New Zealands most stunning beaches. The Coastcare team have been busy removing exotic weeds and will be planting a large number of native dune plants in their place.
Planting times as follows:
Briefing Sataurday 9am:
Planting 9am-12noon.
Everyone's welcome! Bring the whanau.
Sausage sizzle and refreshments will be provided for those who come to help.
Finish at 12pm - if all goes well!
