Caring for the Coast of Otama

Working in partnership with the local community, iwi, Department of Conservation and Councils, Coastcare Waikato are working together to protect our precious coastline in the Mercury Bay.

There are working bees and plantings through out the year.

Keen to help?

Everyone is welcome and if you'd like to join in and help protect the Kuaotunu coast and don't mind a bit of gardening, a chat while you work and fresh air, then bring along your favourite little spade or gardening tools and gloves, water bottle and hat and sunscreen.

July plantings at Otama

this July come along and help with planting native dune plants (kowhangatara, pingao, wiwi & pohuehue) to help our dunes recover from the foot traffic damage, invasive species and 'blow out' areas caused over the last couple of years.
