Job Summary
Pacific Coast Marine & Diesel is a well-established marine service business based in beautiful Whitianga on the Coromandel Peninsula. We are seeking an organised, customer-focused Parts & Sales Manager to lead our parts and sales function and play a key role in the day-to-day success of our workshop operations.
Job Description
This is a varied and hands-on position that combines customer service, sales, inventory management, purchasing, and workshop support. You'll work closely with our technicians, suppliers, and customers to ensure parts are sourced efficiently, jobs run smoothly, and customers receive outstanding service.
About the Role
As our Parts & Sales Manager, you will be responsible for managing customer enquiries, parts and outboard sales, inventory control, purchasing, and supporting workshop operations. You will initially work alongside our existing Parts and Sales Manager, and will become a trusted point of contact for customers while helping ensure the business runs efficiently and professionally every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service, responding to phone, email, and in-person enquiries.
- Prepare accurate quotations, sales orders, credits, and returns.
- Identify customer needs and recommend suitable products and solutions.
- Manage stock availability, backorders, and delivery timeframes and coordinate with workshop staff.
- Oversee purchasing activities and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Ensure the parts department and showroom remain organised, tidy, and professional.
- Maintain accurate records using our business management systems.
- Follow company health and safety procedures and policies.
- Continue developing product knowledge across marine engines, service parts, electronics, trailers, and associated systems.
- Assist with trailer repairs, outboard pre-delivery inspections, and other workshop support activities where required.
About You
We recognise that experience can come from many industries. While marine industry knowledge is advantageous, we are equally interested in candidates from automotive, diesel, engineering, electrical, or other trade-related sectors with personal boating experience and a willingness to learn.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in parts management, inventory control, sales, customer service, or a related role.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Confidence preparing quotes, processing orders, and working with business systems.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Good computer skills and the ability to learn new software systems.
- Experience with digital advertising (including social media) or website development would be advantageous
- A positive attitude and willingness to contribute wherever needed.
- Reliability, integrity, and a strong team focus.
