About the role

We are seeking a Seafood/Butchery Assistant to join our busy New World store in Whitianga, Waikato. In this role your will be part of our in-store butchery department team, ensuring exceptional customer service and serving the highest quality of fresh meat products. This is a part-time role within a thriving local community.

What you'll be doing

• Assisting to ensure all butchery products are fresh, and well-presented
• Assisting to monitor stock levels and place orders to maintain optimal inventory
• Provide exceptional customer service, offering expert advice and custom cuts
• Maintain a clean, safe and compliant butchery operation
• Contribute to the overall success of the store through collaborative teamwork.

What we're looking for

• Experience in the butchery or seafood field is beneficial or equivalent role in the meat industry
• Strong butchery and meat-cutting skills with a keen eye for quality
• Excellent customer service orientation and interpersonal abilities
• Proficient in inventory management and stock control
• Good understanding of food safety regulations and best practices
• Ability to lead, motivate and develop a team
• Enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, customer-focused retail environment.
