Poivre & Sel Restaurant offers an exceptional French fine dining experience in the heart of Whitianga. We invite you to come for a relaxed night to enjoy our full French fusion dinner menu for a special evening with friends and family.
Poivre et Sel means "pepper and salt" in French. All dishes are prepared with French flair and include as many seasonal locally sourced Coromandel ingredients as possible.

Join us for an Authentic fine French cuisine experience at our intimate boutique restaurant!

The restaurant has three separate indoor dining areas, very cosy and romantic, with the capacity to seat up to 30 people. The terrace and tropical garden also offer a perfect dining backdrop for group bookings and an additional place to dine in the warmer months.

French Owners Severine and Samuel have been involved in the hospitality and service industry for many years.  They like to offer a special experience for each individual customer. Head Chef Samuel has designed a French fusion menu which ensures there is something for everyone.

The Poivre and Sel teams passion is for creating seasonal dishes with subtle flavours mixed with a French touch and flair. All meals begin with an amuse bouche & home made bread. 

The menu changes regularly with seasonal products, regularly includes seafood and always features fresh local fish. You have a choice of menu combinations as follows:
  • Entrée & Main $60
  • Main & Dessert $60
  • Entrée & Main & Dessert $80

We travel to Paris annually and imagine our surprise to discover the best restaurant we’ve eaten at that serves French cuisine would be based in Whitianga in the Coromandel Peninsula!  The food was exceptional, as was the service. If you are in the Coromandel but more specifically Whitianga, seek out Poivre et Sel and prepare to be dazzled. Très bien fait! 


Had our wedding anniversary dinner here last night. Excellent food along with excellent service made for a special dining experience. Loved the selected wine match choice for each course. We will be back.
