Extra rubbish collections in Whitianga over the holidays

From the week of Christmas until the week of 3rd February there will be extra rubbish collections throughout the Mercury Bay and Coromandel Peninsula. Download a copy of the 2024/25 schedule for the home or bach below. Please ensure that your rubbish is placed kerbside by 7.30am on the collection day.

What can be recycled?

Yellow lidded wheelie bins - please place paper, cardboard, aluminium and tins and plastic with recycle label 1, 2 or 5 only. Reminder to discard lids and rinse plastic items clean.

Food Scraps bins - please place fruit and vegetables, meat and seafood, bones, coffee grounds, bread, rice and pasta, cooked food, diary, egg shells. For more information about the food scraps bin see the Thames Coromandel District Council Rubbish and Recycling pages.

Green Recycling Bins - please place rinsed and clean class bottles and jars only.

Red lidded wheelie bins - (used to be blue bags) General rubbish, that can't go into the yellow, green or food bins. This bin requires a pay as you throw (PAYT) tag. for a list of where to purchase see the Thames Coromandel District Council website

Refuse Transfer Station hours

Over the summer period the Coromandel Peninsula's refuse transfer stations will operated seven days from 8.30am - 5.30pm. They will however be closed on Christmas Day and New Years Day.
