The Mercury Bay is the home port for the HMNZS Manawanui. The crew of the HMS Manawanui are in the Mercury Bay as part of a visit prior to the decommissioning of the vessel later in 2018, and will be holding a free public open day of the ship.

What to bring:
- For safety, please wear closed toe footwear when embarking onto the ship.
- Please also bring drinking water – as the ship will only be able to supply emergency water.
- Sunscreen – there is little shade on-board.
Information about the ship:
Lieutenant Commander Muzz Kennett is the Commanding officer for the ship. HMNZS MANAWANUI is the Navy's diving and mine counter-measures support ship. MANAWANUI is equipped with a compression chamber and a wet bell to enable deep diving. In addition she can undertake patrol and surveillance tasks in NZ waters. The vessel is being decommissioned in 2018.
