art escape gala opening and showcase exhibition

Gala Opening and Showcase Exhibition, Hot Waves Café, Hot Water Beach, Friday 6th March at 6pm.

Our special guest speaker is Peter Lange, one of New Zealands leading ceramic artists and a renown public speaker.  Peter will be auctioning one of his wonderful ceramics on the evening with a proportion of the funds going to the Art Escape.

We are doubly fortunate this year as our celebrated host of 2019, Fatu Feu'U, will be returning as a guest and will also have one of his beautiful works for auction on the night.

This is great opportunity for art lovers to have the chance to bid on works from two of New Zealands most celebrated artists as well as buying new and unique works from our artist members in the Gala Showcase.

Tickets are only $45 and include a complimentary glass of Tohu Wines, hors d’oeuvres and live music!

Gala Showcase Artists in Residence at hot waves Cafe

Every day from 12pm to 4pm during the Art Escape week we plan to have an artist on site to talk about their work and the showcase exhibition.   As well as seeing the works on display, it’s a great opportunity to meet the artists and get to know more about their work and what motivates them.

You can also grab a coffee and a bite to eat in one the best cafes on the Coromandel!

Mercury Bay Art Escape Free Guide

A free Guide will be available on-line as well as at the artists’ studios, galleries and i-SITES on the Coromandel Peninsula.

Mercury Bay Art Escape Artists

Many of the Art Escape members are open year-round (by appointment). All of the artists’ details are on the Art Escape website, and a comprehensive Guide is also available to download as an invaluable reference manual featuring short biographies and images of work from all of the artists involved.  Check the Mercury Bay Art Escape website to get a copy of the guide.

If you are new to the area, or you are part of a group which would like to be taken to your chosen selection of studios, please contact the Art Escape team.
