Mercury Bay Area Office Whitianga - Thames Coromandel District Council

These include such things as wastewater, stormwater, boat ramps, community halls and libraries. The local TCDC Mercury Bay Area Office is based in Whitianga. 

The Coromandel Peninsula is full of diversity; one of the reasons is because it has over 50 settlements, each with its own distinct personality, history and lifestyle. 

District council Wards

To effectively represent the ratepayers on the Coromandel Peninsula the district is divided into electorates called Wards. Each Ward has its own Community Board and District Councillors to represent them at Council. The Wards across the district include:

  • Coromandel/Colville
  • Mercury Bay (service centre based in Whitianga)
  • Tairua/Pauanui
  • Whangamata.

  • Coroglen.

Thames Coromandel District Council Services

The TCDC provides many services that are important to life on the Coromandel Peninsula  for both visitors and residents. Services include the delivery of effective wastewater, water, stormwater, roading and rubbish services, as well as providing other services including:
  • Airfields
  • Boat ramps and wharfs
  • Community Halls
  • Libraries
  • Parks, Playgrounds, Reserves and Sports Fields
  • Roads
  • Rubbish and recycling
  • Water services.
