What's on in Whitianga this Easter weekend?

From Church services to art, music, shopping, cars and fish – there's something for everyone this Easter in Whitianga. Match these Easter activities with Mercury Bay's usual things to do and perhaps a great place to eat and we are set for a great weekend!

Wednesday

'Passion of the Christ' Screening – At Whitianga Baptist Church, 7pm.

Maundy Thursday

Mercury Bay Art Escape Gala Event – The postponed Mercury Bay Gala Opening event will be held at Hot Waves Cafe this evening. Check our event listing for more information, times and tickets.

The Lost Spring – Lunchtime happy hour 12 noon to 3pm

Church Services – Local churches are holding services. 

Good Friday

The Lost Spring – Live music with Doc Jeffries from 5.30 to 7.30pm  

Church Services – Several of the local churches are holding Good Friday services. 

Easter Saturday

Mercury Bay Art Escape – This bonus weekend of Open Studios means that if you missed the Art Escape in early March you have a chance to visit artists studios over Easter. Grab a map and discover 50 artists by seeing our events pages and previous Mercury Bay News articles. Alternatively head out to Hot Water Beach and take a look at the exhibition at Hot Waves Cafe.

Whitianga Art Centre – Exhibition. School Road. 10am - 4pm.

Whitianga Arts and Craft Market – At Soldiers Memorial park.

Fish Auction at Cooks Beach – Thanks to the NZ Spearfishing Nationals, fish will be donated and auctioned at this fundraising event for the Cooks Beach Hall. If you have not luck out on the water, then pop along and grab some fish while supporting a good cause!

Whenuakite Country Kids Fundraiser – Bake sale at the Hahei General Store 8.30am - homemade baking and hot cross buns!

Easter Egg Hunt – Fundraiser for Whenuakite Country Kids, 10am at Whenuakite School field. $5 per child or $15 per family. Plus sausage sizzle!

Hot Water Beach TOP 10 – Music in the park with Beach Culcha from 6.30 pm.

Mercury Bay Club – Paul Madsen & Band tribute show to Queen & the Bee Gees.

White Chapel Jak – The Coroglen Tavern are hosting one of New Zealand's hottest and exciting acts! See our events page for details. 

Easter Sunday

Church ServicesSeveral of the local churches are holding Easter Sunday services.

Easter Egg Hunt – Wild Wood Mini Golf have a free Easter egg hunt for golfers today - see our events pages.

Coroglen Farmers Market – Last market for the season.

Whitianga Art Centre – Exhibition. School Road. 10am - 4pm.

Hot Water Beach TOP 10 Egg Hunt – Over 1000 eggs to be found and great prizes to be won.

American Muscle, Street & Custom Club – Monthly run from Smitty's Bar. Come along and take a look at the cars.
