A special Gala Opening at Hot Waves Café, Hot Water Beach is all set to kick off the annual Art Escape Open Studios and Showcase exhibition on the 5th March at 6pm.

The latest Covid-19 restrictions have meant a change to the date of the Gala Evening. The event will now be held on Thursday, April 1st. All previously purchased tickets for the event in March are still valid and all details for the event, except for the date remain the same. Please contact Mercury Bay Art Escape should you have any queries.
The 2021 Gala Opening is a social art event that showcases all of the best of local artists and their art. Tickets and the programme for this year’s event will include:
- Exclusive preview to Mercury Bay Art Escape 'Member's Showcase' exhibition
- View new artwork by each of the Art Escape member artists and art group members
- Guest speaker Di Tocker – one of New Zealand’s premier cast glass sculptors
- Art auction – one of Di Tockers glass pieces and print from Kevin Judd (Greywacke owner and professional photographer)
- Hors d'oeuvres and a complimentary glass of Greywacke wine
- Live music.
The Gala Evening is a chance to meet the artists, mingle with other art lovers, purchase art and provides an exclusive preview to our Member's Showcase Exhibition. It really is a highlight on the Coromandel arts scene.
