Whitianga Coastguard is supported by dedicated volunteers in and around Whitianga who provide Search and Rescue services to save lives at sea and to promote water safety education and initiatives.

St John Whitianga is run and staffed by people who are passionate about serving the Mercury Bay community and caring for our local residents and visitors to the area. St John Whitianga is part of the Northern region of St John.

There is a 111 TXT service for the Deaf and Hearing Impaired who register with Police through Deaf Aotearoa at www.deaf.org.nz.

The Whitianga Volunteer Fire Brigade has a state of the art station supported by over 30 volunteer firefighters. The brigade is a partnership between the NZ Fire Service, volunteers and their empoyers to provide a vital service to the community.
